Frontiers in Rehabilitation Science Special Journal
RTC: Rural is working with Frontiers in Rehabilitation Sciences to produce a special journal section focused on Rural Disability and Community Participation. This special journal will highlight the recent work of fourteen researchers from RTC:Rural and the Rural Institute for Inclusive Communities.
The collection includes original research articles, brief research reports, and mini review articles spanning a variety of timely, valuable topics in disability research.

Virtual Social Engagement Conference
Dr. Rayna Sage of RTC:Rural will be participating in a panel at the Virtual Social Engagement Summit on August 2-3. Dr. Sage will discuss research on how community activities such as social engagement can improve community living for people with disabilities, and the intersection of disability with other inequalities such as racism, sexism, and discrimination of those in rural locations.
Co-hosted by engAGED: The National Resource Center for Engaging Older Adults and Commit to Connect, the Summit will bring together researchers and leaders from the aging and disability networks for interactive discussions on the current state of social isolation research and practical implications for the social engagement work of the Aging Network, disability network and partner organizations.

Health coaching for people with disabilities: An exploratory mixed-methods study
In observance of Social Wellness Month, the national Rehabilitation Information Center (NARIC) has produced a deep collection of resources to help people Connect for Health. Among the featured research are articles from RTC:Rural on home accessibility, supports for social connectivity, and other research on social connectedness and wellness to help people maintain their social wellbeing.

The Research and Training Center on Disability in Rural Communities (RTC:Rural) conducts research on disability as part of the Rural Institute for Inclusive Communities at the University of Montana.
RTC:Rural is funded by the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR) grant number 90RTCP0002 to improve the ability of people with disabilities to engage in rural community living.
